Welcome to Cypress

Cypress was incorporated as a city in 1956.  In the 1960s, the town built 6,759 residential units and, in the following decade, another 5,154 units.  Cypress is still building but the dominant style was set between 1960 and 1980, when the town built about three-fourths of its housing stock.

In the single homes, this can be described as almost equal parts three-and four- bedroom, with a good amount of five or more bedrooms.  Many homes are two-story and two car garages.  The great majority of homes have been fleshed out with shrubs and trees or brickwork or wood shingles.  Home prices in Cypress range from $350,000 for 1,200 square foot two bedroom townhomes, to over  $1,000,000s for 3,500 square foot five bedroom, four bath newer homes.

The City of Cypress provides a safe, and attractive environment in which to live, work and play.  Cypress is an outstanding family-oriented community and premier business center offering an excellent location in Southern California.  It is centrally located on the boarder of Los Angeles and Orange counties, just a few miles from the Ocean.  This wonderful community has easy access to major freeways including the 405, 22, 605 and 91.  And this community includes a large office park, community college and cemetery.  Close to race track. Housing a mix but generally middle to upper middle-class. Clean. Well-kept.

Cypress is known for being a very safe city with highly rated schools.  Cypress features 8 public and 2 private elementary schools, Lexington Junior High, Cypress, and Oxford Academy, which is one of the highest academically rated public schools in California.  This city is also close to California State University at Long Beach.

Parks and Recreation
provides many parks with play and sports facilities for every interest.  The Cypress Recreation and Park District is proud of its ability to involve members of the community in many of its programs and special events from the very successful Cypress Little League and Soccer programs to the annual 5K run.

Cultural Arts

The City has set aside a significant area of land for a business park and has been successful in attracting international corporations including  Mitsubishi , Panasonic, Bandai, Pacific Care  and others.  Also, Cypress has a new Costco that will be opening doors in 2006.  All of these business help contribute to the City's Excellent Financial Stability.
